I read with much interest youx article in
the Standard on J. Frank. You did a good job
but I am afraid it will not get any where with
Frank. Of course I know you are trying to
break his influence with the plain people of
Texas and what you have written is well calculated
to do this.
I read Graig and Cranfields articles on the
Waco meeting. It looks like you brethren have
organized to go after Franlc. To put him out of
business. Much that was said down in Waco \laS
in Franks direction.
I am a little surprised at your effort to
change the place of the meeting of the Southern
Baptist Convention at this late hour. Jacksonville
is not a fit place for the meeting of ovx
Convention. They run their hotels and all other
business on the grafter basis and tl:ey e-raft on
us worse than they do on their tourists. It is
not a fit place to carry a Convention. We do
not want to be robbed.
We are having an up hill business in our
meeting. The most extreme spell of weather that
I have tackled for a meeting since I have left
Texas stayed with us all last week. Yesterday
was a beautiful day, however, and we had our house
taxed to the utmost. I understana a good many
people were turned away last night.
